Trussville (Ala.) VisionFirst ophthalmologists Mark Beaman, MD, and Sarah Hays, MD, have started offering blade-free cataract laser surgery, which they say is the first of its kind in the state, according to a Trussville Tribune report.
VisionFirst Eye Center recently introduced the LenSx femtosecond laser to its facility. The laser is the first device of this type approved by the FDA for cataract surgery.
In the first day of the device's use, the two physicians performed nine cataract surgeries, with additional surgeries scheduled throughout the week.
