AAO Survey Finds US Ophthalmologists Foresee Negative Consequences of Medicare Cuts

A survey conducted by the American Academy of Ophthalmology on the 2 percent cut in Medicare found that those polled expected a negative impact on the quality of care they would be able to provide to Medicare patients.

The survey included 1,761 ophthalmologists and 72 percent responded that they would have no choice but to make assessments that would negatively affect the care Medicare patients would receive.

Forty-three percent stated that they would no longer accept or severely limit the number of new Medicare beneficiaries.
