A new Global Industry Analysts report estimates the global ophthalmic laser market to reach $804 million by 2015 driven by an aging population, increasing accessibility to advanced laser eye treatment and the increase in patients opting for eye surgery, according to a GIA news release.
Growth will also be driven by the increasing accessibility of laser treatment to patients in developing countries, especially Asia. Despite the decrease in elective laser surgery during the recession, technology continued to develop and provide a stimulus for future market growth, the report said.
