Naser Rustom, MD, will lead the new Primary Comprehensive Care ACO. Dr. Rustom recently received approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Review Board for an outpatient surgery center in Orland Park, Ill.
OIG, CMS announce final EHR Stark exception, Anti-Kickback Safe Harbor Rules.
HHS’ Office of Inspector General and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released final rules that revise the Anti-Kickback Statute safe harbor and Stark Law exception. Read the full report on Becker’s Hospital Review.
CMS, WEDI to launch ICD-10 success initiative.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange partnered to launch an ICD-10 Implementation Success Initiative. The initiative includes a searchable database of ICD-10 issues.
CMS Final Rule: breast biopsy codes bundled, payments cut.
CMS’ Final Payment Rule mandated cuts to breast biopsy codes and various imaging studies. New codes will bundle breast biopsy and image guidance for the stereotactic, ultrasound or MRI studies. Additional bundling of marker placement with image guidance will bring a 17 percent increase in payment next year
Physician Partners of America acquires Texas ASC.
Physician Partners of America acquired Frisco (Texas) Ambulatory Surgery Center. This acquisition is a part of a strategic plan to launch ASCs in certain states throughout the country.
St. John’s Hospital to acquire Prairie Surgicenter for $8.5M.
St. John’s Hospital has expressed interest in acquiring Prairie Surgicenter in Springfield, Ill., for $8.5 million. Sandra Yeh, MD, opened the $3 million surgery center three years ago.
Prescott Outpatient Surgery Center physician performs surgery on African pastor.
Bertrand Kaper, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Prescott (Ariz.) Outpatient Surgery Center, recently performed a direct anterior total hip replacement on Pastor Greyson Badatu from Tanzania.
