Construction started on the DeBois, Pa.-based Penn Highlands DeBois West Wing annex in June, and Emporium, Pa.-based Penn Highlands Healthcare recently announced a $111 million master facilities plan that will create 400 new jobs across the region over three years, the Courier Express reported.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. The five-story Penn Highlands DuBois West Wing annex is the first project in Penn Highlands Healthcare’s plan and will include a new ambulatory surgery center with its own recovery area, pre and postsurgery area and operating rooms.
2. The new annex will also include a new cafeteria, physicians’ lounge, a new administrative wing, maternity department and meeting rooms.
3. Penn Highlands Healthcare plans to recruit 100 new physicians, and 300 other nursing and support services staff as part of the expansion.
