The Maryland Health Care Commission approved Laurel (Md.) Regional Hospital's certificate of need exemption request to build a 75,000-square-foot medical center on the hospital's campus, The Baltimore Sun reported.
Here are three details:
1. The new facility will feature outpatient surgery, imaging services and a pharmacy.
2. The new center is intended to reduce the need for hospitalizations and unnecessary inpatient admissions.
3. Construction is expected to begin in early 2019 and be completed by the spring of 2021.
