EmergeOrtho expanding reach with orthopedics-dedicated ASC — 6 insights

Durham, N.C.-based EmergeOrtho will begin construction on an ASC in Leland, N.C., July 26, Wilmington Biz reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The new facility will include the first dedicated orthopedic surgery center in Brunswick County. The 55,578-square-foot ASC will offer orthopedic services including surgery, diagnostic imaging and advanced MRI.

2. It will include an operating room and two procedure rooms on the first floor, examination and treatment rooms on the second floor and pain management and physical therapy services on the third floor.

3. Services on the second and third floors are being relocated from other EmergeOrtho offices. EmergeOrtho plans to carry out the relocation in phases.

4. The new facility is expected to create at least 25 jobs.

5. EmergeOrtho has around 49 office locations in the state and opened a new facility in Shallotte, N.C., in 2017. The physician-owned practice also relocated its orthopedic urgent care service, AccessOrtho, to a new office in April.

6. EmergeOrtho CEO Stephen DeBiasi said EmergeOrtho foresees additional growth in the future.

"Our biggest short-term priority is developing the new ASC in Brunswick County. We already offer orthopedics, pain management, MRI and physical and occupational therapy in Leland, so the new facility is an expansion of those services in anticipation of the increasing demand and population growth," he said in an email to Wilmington Biz.
