In mid-November, Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care and The Jackson (Tenn.) Clinic revealed plans to build an outpatient surgery center in North Jackson.
Four things to know:
1. Baptist Memorial and The Jackson Clinic will be equal partners in the project. They purchased a 60-acre site for the development, which is intended to integrate surgical space with physician offices.
2. With multiple operating rooms, the center will offer ENT, gastrointestinal, ophthalmic, gynecological, general surgery, plastic surgery, urologic, pediatric and heart catheterization services.
3. The project is pending state approval. Baptist Memorial and The Jackson Clinic expect to open the center within two years of gaining that approval.
4. The Jackson Clinic, a group of 100-plus physicians, chose to partner with Baptist Memorial because of its "proven track record of success" and involvement in the surgery center space.
