ASC included in Atlanta health system's $231M+ project — 4 insights

Atlanta-based Grady Health System is spending $231.3 million to build a medical office building with an ASC and expand an AIDS and HIV treatment center, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

What you should know:

1. The building will be seven stories high, will feature an ASC, and is expected to open in June 2022.

2. The ASC will have six operating rooms, dedicated rooms for gastroenterology procedures, an outpatient imaging center, and a relocated cancer center. The space will also allow GHS to add 52 beds.

3. The building is expected to increase Grady Health's clinic capacity by 45 percent and its surgical volume by 25 percent.

4. The Fulton and DeKalb county government bodies are supporting the projects with funding. Fulton committed to providing $74.2 million and DeKalb County committed $36.8 million. Grady Health and private donors will cover the remaining costs. About $65.9 million of Fulton's funding is earmarked for the medical office building project.
