Most Gen Zers and millennials would prefer to retire in the South, according to a new survey from financial services company GoBankingRates.
The company surveyed Americans from ages 18 to 64 about their retirement plans. Here's where Gen Z and Millennials said they would like to retire in the South and the Midwest:
Gen Z (ages 18-24):
Southern states:
- Florida: 20%
- Texas: 18%
- Georgia: 12%
- Washington D.C.: 10%
Midwestern states:
- Ohio: 17%
- Illinois: 15%
- Michigan: 12%
- North Dakota: 8%
Younger millennials (ages 25-34):
Southern states:
- Florida: 28%
- Texas: 17%
- North Carolina: 10%
- Georgia: 9%
Midwestern states:
- Ohio: 18%
- Michigan: 15%
- Illinois: 11%

Older millennials (ages 35-44)
Southern states:
