Progressive Surgical Solutions President Regina Boore, RN, BSN, outlined three ways ASCs can use staff training to improve performance in a recent issue of Administrative Eyecare.

1. Onboarding. Properly onboarding new employees ensures they are aware of how the ASC runs. Creating an orientation packet is one way to prepare a new hire.
2. Training drills. Giving employees a refresher through regular training drills helps them stay on top of new and current procedures and policies.
3. Administrator duties. The responsibility of staff training falls on an ASC's administrator, according to Ms. Boore. Making training fun and engaging helps keep staff involved.
