Dublin-based Ohio Surgery Center staff will undergo training on leadership and management skills, according to Facility Administrator Suzi Walton.
What you should know:
1. Reality-Based Leadership Founder Cy Wakeman will visit the center Feb. 25 for the training.
2. Ms. Wakeman provides education on how to use neutral language when someone is upset.
3. For instance, if an employee were to say, "We are short-staffed," Ms. Wakeman would say, "What is the current staffing level?" rather than, "How short?" The former sentence uses more neutral terms.
"I want you to listen to how people present things and then I want you to neutralize the drama and, as if editing the story, just get people back to center," Ms. Wakeman says in a video on LinkedIn.
