Manchester (N.H.) VA Medical Center assembled a team to lead its forthcoming ASC, bringing the center one step closer to becoming operational, according to The Conway Daily Sun.
Three key details:
1. Robert Zwolak, MD, PhD, was named chief of surgical services. He is trained in general and vascular surgery.
2. The VA also appointed Sara Roberts, RN, as nurse manager; Timothy Wheaton, RN, as assistant nurse manager; and Devon York as health systems specialist at the ASC. All three work within Manchester VA's Same Day Surgery and Specialty Care Service.
3. In 2017, a VA task force recommended that the facility develop an ASC to address veterans' emerging needs. The center will offer surgical procedures ranging in complexity, such as cataract surgery.
