Ortmann Healthcare Consulting Services President Chris McMenemy shared three tips for ASCs planning to add a new specialty the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association's ASC Physician Focus Newsletter.
Here are the tips she shared:
1. Don't make changes too quickly. To avoid selling equipment or losing physicians a year after adding cases, ASCs should take their time bringing on new physicians.
2. Vet potential physicians. When ASCs take their time onboarding new physicians, they can spend more time determining whether they're a good fit.
3. Prepare staff for change. ASC leadership needs to make sure the center's staff is on the same page when adding a new specialty.
