Studies Show PillCam Can Help Detect Lesions in Crohn's Disease Patients

New studies show Given Imaging's new PillCam SB can help detect lesions involved in Crohn's disease and monitor disease progression in patients with suspected and known Crohn's disease, according to a release by the company.

The studies, presented at Digestive Disease Week, were performed at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz., and at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Researchers said capsule endoscopy with the PillCam is already widely used for detecting obscure gastrointestinal bleeding of the small bowel and is also used to determine if patients are responding to therapy or if a change in treatment is required.
