Olympus is implementing InterSystems HealthShare to allow KE HL7 software platform users to more easily share images taken during endoscopy procedures.
Here's what you should know.
1. Before the partnership, physicians would need to download images to an external device to share with patients. Now physicians can connect to the endoscope through an EMR or a picture archiving and communications system to store and share imaging files.
2. InterSystems helps hospitals lessen patient privacy concerns by eliminating the need for physical hard drive devices.
3. Olympus America Group Vice President of Endoscopy Kurt Heine said, "Hospitals have invested millions of dollars in the implementation of EMRs. But, they still haven’t realized the full value of the systems, particularly when it comes to sharing information across disparate sources. With the addition of HealthShare, Olympus KE eliminates a major barrier to data integration, allowing physicians to provide better care to patients by accessing a more complete health record."
