Kentucky Mercy Health affiliate joins state's colon cancer screening program

Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky., partnered with Kentucky CancerLink to screen uninsured and underinsured Kentucky residents for colorectal cancer, The Paducah Sun reported Jan. 29.

The Kentucky Colon Cancer Screening Program was established to provide CRC screenings to residents for free. The program, run through Kentucky CancerLink, connects patients to no-cost colonoscopies. Residents must be between 45 and 75 years old and be uninsured. Any resident with a family history of CRC or a factor that increases the risk of CRC qualifies for the screening.

Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital will provide screenings to patients who meet the guidelines.

Lourdes Hospital's anesthesiology and pathology providers also participate in the program.
