Internet use, vacation time & more: 5 ‘Medscape’ statistics on gastroenterologists’ lifestyle

Medscape surveyed 15,069 physicians across more than 29 specialties for its Gastroenterologist Lifestyle, Happiness & Burnout Report 2019. Respondents were required to practice in the U.S.

Five statistics on gastroenterologists:

1. Gastroenterologists are rarely on the internet. Seventy-four percent said they spent between one to 10 hours online per week for personal use, 21 percent spent 11 to 20 hours online and 4 percent spent between 21 to 30 hours online.

2. The majority of gastroenterologists rarely use the internet for work as well. Seventy-six percent spent one to 10 hours online at work per week, 15 percent spent 11 to 20 hours online, 7 percent spent between 21 and 40 hours and 2 percent spent more than 40 hours online.

3. Concerning vacation time, gastroenterologists like to unwind. Forty-six percent used between three to four weeks of vacation. However, a quarter of respondents only used between one to two weeks of vacation.

4. Seventy-five percent of gastroenterologists said they were religious.

5. Gastroenterologists are also active with 89 percent going to the gym at least once a week. Thirty-two percent of gastroenterologists go the gym at least two to three times a week.
