Three gastroenterologists featured this week:
1. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy appointed John Vargo, II, MD, its new president at the Digestive Disease Week annual conference, May 18-21, in San Diego.
2. Hashem B. El-Serag, MD, gastroenterology chair at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine, became the 114th president of the American Gastroenterological Association Institute during the Digestive Disease Week conference. An avid researcher and a past Clinical Gastroenterology & Hepatology editor-in-chief, Dr. El-Serag discussed the goals for his term and his vision for the association with Becker's ASC Review.
3. Mount Kisco, N.Y.-based CareMount Medical CEO Scott Hayworth, MD, will oversee the practice management association's board of the newly formed US Digestive Health, a gastrointestinal-focused practice management organization.
