Gastro Health's 5-year recap: 30+ moves

Miami-based Gastro Health has marked several accomplishments in recent years to advance gastroenterology care and expand its network.

Gastro Health supports more than 400 physicians and 150 locations in Florida, Alabama, Washington, Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Massachusetts.

Here is what the organization has achieved since 2019:

2024

Gastro Health named COO Alan Oliver as interim CEO of the company.

Gastro Health finalized a partnership with Gastroenterology and Nutrition Specialists in Orlando, Fla.

2023

Gastro Health partnered with M.H. Razavi, MD, and the Endoscopy & Digestive Center of Woodbridge (Va.).

Gastro Health acquired Gastroenterology Consultants of Polk County in Davenport, Fla.

Hillsboro, Ohio-based Highland District Hospital expanded its gastroenterology services through the addition of three Gastro Health physicians.

Gastro Health acquired Gastroenterology Associates in Olympia, Wash.

2022

Gastro Health partnered with Lynx.MD to support the development and research of digital GI-specific tools. 

Cambridge, Mass.-based Iterative Health partnered with Gastro Health to bring its AI tools to Gastro Health's network. 

Two Gastro Health ASCs made Newsweek's "America's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers," which ranks 510 of the more than 5,000 Medicare-certified ASCs in the country.

Gastro Health finalized a partnership with Springfield Gastroenterology in Ohio.

Gastro Health finalized its acquisition of Charlottesville (Va.) Gastroenterology Associates on Sept. 1.

Gastro Health added gastroenterologist and internal medicine physician Keith Moore, MD, to its network.

Gastro Health opened a Hygieacare center in Miami to prepare patients for colonoscopy.

Gastro Health added Annapolis, Md.-based Digestive Disorders Associates to its network.

Gastro Health selected Alan Oliver as the platform's new COO.

Miami-based Gastro Health added two new practices in Maryland and Washington.

Gastro Health entered into its seventh state after a three-practice acquisition in Massachusetts.

2021

Gastro Health signed a definitive agreement to partner with North Miami, Fla.-based Digestive Care Center.

The company was recognized by the eHealthcare Leadership Awards for its website's doctor directory.  

Gastro Health inked a deal with Lima, Ohio-based Gastro-Intestinal Associates. 

In September, Gastro Health acquired New Smyrna Beach-based Gastro Center of Florida and Mid Florida Gastroenterology Consultants in Ocoee.

Gastro Health signed an agreement to add Reston, Va.-based The Gastroenterology Group. 

In July, Penfund, a Toronto-based fund management company, completed a second lien debt and equity co-investment in Gastro Health.

Gastro Health brought on 17 gastroenterologists who left TriHealth in Cincinnati. 

In June, Gastro Health sealed two new acquisitions, growing its footprint in northern Virginia. 

In May, Gastro Health was sold to private equity company Omers.

Gastro Health partnered with Digestive Disease Associates, growing its platform to a sixth state. 

Gastro Health acquired a practice in Hollywood, Fla., expanding its presence in the Fort Lauderdale area.

2020

Following the FDA's labeling change, Miami-based Gastro Health began offering patients access to CapsoCam Plus treatments at home.

Miami-based Gastro Health partnered with Cincinnati-based Ohio Gastroenterology & Liver Institute and Woodbridge, Va.-based Associates in Gastroenterology in two separate deals.

Miami-based Gastro Health gastroenterologist Daniel Gelrud, MD, was the first gastroenterologist in the U.S. to use the J10 Series Ultrasound Video Gastroscope.

Miami-based Gastro Health made three acquisitions, including the group's second acquisition in Virginia, to kick off 2020.

2019

Miami-based Gastro Health acquired Fairfax-based Gastroenterology Associates of Northern Virginia.

Miami-based Gastro Health acquired Seattle-based Puget Sound Gastroenterology, its first acquisition away from its southeastern market base.

Miami-based Gastro Health acquired Birmingham, Ala.-based Southeast Gastro, its first out-of-state acquisition.
