Exact Sciences joined a public-private partnership to increase COVID-19 laboratory testing capacity in Wisconsin, according to a March 30 announcement from the state.
What you should know:
1. Exact Sciences is sharing knowledge, resources and technology with Marshfield Clinic Health System, biotech company Promega, UW Health and the Wisconsin Clinical Lab Network through a partnership expected to double COVID-19 test capacity.
2. Previously, the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene and Milwaukee Public Health Lab were leading efforts to make more COVID-19 tests available online through the Wisconsin Clinical Lab Network. The labs completed between 1,500 and 2,000 COVID-19 tests daily, on average.
3. Exact Sciences is repurposing some equipment and reconfiguring lab spaces to help ramp up testing, according to Chairman and CEO Kevin Conroy. Mr. Conroy told Channel 3000 that Exact Sciences eventually aims to perform between 5,000 and 10,000 tests per day.
