Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins gastroenterologist and Crohn's disease researcher Steven Brant, MD, has been awarded nearly $250,000 toward genomic sequencing and gene analysis for his laboratory, according to an EndoNurse report.
The in-kind, competitive grant was awarded by Expression Analysis and Illumina. Dr. Brant is one of two recipients of the grant, which is awarded annually, and the only U.S. recipient.
He has been working since 1996 to find genetic causes for Crohn's disease. He is the director of the Meyerhoff Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
