Hemant Roy, MD, former director of NorthShore gastroenterology research, and Vadim Backman, PhD, biomedical engineering professor at McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science in Evanston, Ill., have authored a paper that focuses on a new ovarian cancer screening method, according to a Health Canal report.
The new screening test is designed to be less invasive by examining cells easily taken from the uterus or cervix, rather than the ovaries.
Dr. Roy was at NorthShore at the time of the study. He currently serves as the section chief of gastroenterology at Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine.
