1. Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from Chapel Hill-based University of North Carolina. He completed a residency and fellowship at Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University.
2. He has more than 20 years' experience and specializes in general adult gastroenterology.
3. Dr. Smith enjoys golfing, live music and the UNC Tar Heels.
