ASGE Names New President, Governing Board

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy named Gregory G. Ginsberg, MD, as its new president and named members of its 2011-2012 governing board, according to releases by ASGE.

 

Dr. Ginsberg is professor of medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and director of endoscopy at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also on the new ASGE governing board, whose other members are:

 

Thomas M. Deas Jr., MD, ASGE president-elect and member of Gastroenterology Associates of North Texas in Ft. Worth.

 

Kenneth K. Wang, MD, ASGE secretary and on the faculty at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minn.

 

Kenneth R. McQuaid, MD, ASGE secretary-elect and in the GI Section at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco.

 

Douglas O. Faigel, MD, ASGE treasurer, a member of Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz.

 

M. Brian Fennerty, MD, ASGE past president and on the faculty of Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Ore.

 

John L. Petrini, MD, ASGE past president and a member of Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara, Calif.

 

Amitabh Chak, MD, an ASGE councilor and on staff at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland.

 

Steven A. Edmundowicz, MD, an ASGE councilor and on the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

 

Michael L. Kochman, MD, an ASGE councilor and in the GI division of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

 

Klaus Mergener, MD, PhD, an ASGE councilor and a member of Digestive Health Specialists of Tacoma (Wash.).

 

Colleen M. Schmitt, MD, an ASGE councilor and a member of Galen Medical Group in Chattanooga, Tenn.

 

John J. Vargo II, MD, an ASGE councilor and a member of Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland.

 

Robert A. Ganz, MD, chair of the ASGE Foundation and a member of Minnesota Gastroenterology in Minnetonka, Minn.
