4 Washington independent practices merge to form largest independent practice in Washington — 5 insights

Four independent gastroenterology groups in Western Washington merged to form Washington Gastroenterology, in turn, becoming the largest independent practice in Washington.

Here's what you should know.

1. Tacoma, Wash.-based Digestive Health Specialists; Olympia, Wash.-based Gastroenterology Associates; Bellevue, Wash.-based Northwest Gastroenterology; and Bellevue, Wash.-based Overlake Internal Medicine-Gastroenterology merged Jan. 1.

2. The combined practice features more than 40 gastroenterologists and 20 non-physician providers.

3. The group has several ambulatory endoscopy centers and can provide a plethora of treatments including infusion services.

4. Washington Gastroenterology is also active in clinical research.

5. Gastroenterologist Raj Butani, MD, said, "Each of our practices share the same commitment to innovation and exceptional patient care. This merger allows us to continue to enhance the patient experience and provide excellence in gastroenterology care for decades to come."
