$3M in Funding Given to Dr. Louis Korman for Creating Safer Colonoscopies

Louis Korman, MD, of Capital Digestive Care and Artann Laboratories has received over $3 million from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to conduct research on the development of the Colonoscopy Force Monitor, according to a Baltimore Business Journal report.

Dr. Korman and his team are conducting research at the Chevy Chase (Md.) Clinical Research facility. The CFM is designed to monitor the amount of force applied during a colonoscopy, serving as a way to train physicians and create benchmarks for the necessary amount of force applied during colonoscopies.

Research on the CFM is reaching the final stages and will soon be brought before the FDA for approval.
