The state government has partnered with South Dakota healthcare organizations to offer $10,000 bonuses to healthcare employees who agree to work in rural communities for three years, according to a Sioux City Journal report.
The program has 60 available bonuses and only applies to employees who are willing to work in communities with fewer than 10,000 people. Nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, therapists, paramedics and technologists may apply for the grants.
The state also set up a similar fund for healthcare professionals, such as midlevel providers and physicians. Those individuals may receive from $35,000 to $100,000 for a three-year commitment.
