Emergency medicine specialists are largely the ones treating U.S. COVID-19 patients in person, according to a Medscape survey of 5,005 practicing physicians in the U.S.
The survey was conducted from June 9 through July 20.
Top U.S. specialties treating patients with COVID-19:
1. Emergency medicine
In person: 94 percent
Via video or phone: 12 percent
2. Nephrology
In person: 89 percent
Via video or phone: 26 percent
3. Critical care
In person: 87 percent
Via video or phone: 7 percent
4. HIV/infectious disease
In person: 86 percent
Via video or phone: 29 percent
5. Pulmonary medicine
In person: 74 percent
Via video or phone: 35 percent
