TouchCare, a telemedicine company connecting patients to physicians through secure video calls via smartphones or tablets, appointed former U.S. Senator Joseph Kerrey and Brad Wilson, president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, to its board of directors.
Here are four facts:
1. Senator Kerrey serves as a management director at Allen & Company, and is a board director of Tenet Health.
2. Brad Wilson previously served as general counsel to North Carolina Governor Kim Hunt. He serves as a director of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, America’s Health Insurance Plans, BCS Financial and Research Triangle Regional Partnership.
3. Durham, N.C.-based TouchCare created the mobile health app enabling communication between consumers and their healthcare providers.
4. The app allows for convenient, HIPAA-compliant virtual video appointments. The app centers on maintaining the continuity of care by connecting patents with physicians.
Damian Gilbert, TouchCare’s founder and CEO, said, "Senator Bob Kerrey and Brad Wilson will provide tremendous insight as both government regulation and health care transformation continue to play an important role in the future of telemedicine."
