Sen. Marsha Blackburn visits Tennessee ASC

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, visited The Surgery Center of Cleveland (Tenn.) Wednesday to learn about the procedures that physicians perform there, and how the facility saves patients money, according to the Cleveland Banner.

Three details:

1. ASC Administrator Marietha Silvers told Sen. Blackburn that physicians at the ASC performed over 5,000 surgeries last year and that 60 percent of the facility's patients are on Medicare.

2. Ms. Silvers also told the senator that the ASC saves more than $100 million in Medicare spending for Tennessee.

3. The ASC was the second to open in Tennessee, according to Ms. Silvers.
