Community Eye Center's outpatient surgery center is celebrating its 30th year in service.
Four highlights:
1. Anthony Limoncelli, MD, opened Community Eye Center in 1980. Joseph Spadafora, DO, joined the practice in 1988, followed by Eric Schaible, MD, in 1994.
2. Community Eye Center moved its main office to Port Charlotte, Fla., and opened St. Lucy's Eye Surgery Center in 1989.
3. St. Lucy's was the first outpatient ophthalmic surgery center in Charlotte County, Fla.
4. St. Lucy's has a full-time staff of doctors, nurses and technicians all dedicated exclusively to eye surgery. Dr. Spadafora performed the first surgery at the on-site center.
"Thirty years ago, Dr. Limoncelli and I embarked on a journey to create an 'evolving,' 'state of the art' surgery center," Dr. Spadafora said. "With a staff dedicated to safe and up to date surgical advances, our physicians are providing the latest technology in a warm and heartfelt atmosphere."
