Cigna receives Freedom Award supporting National Guard, Reserve employees: 5 key points

Cigna, a global health service company headquartered in Bloomfield, Conn., received the 2015 Employer Support Freedom Award from the U.S. Department of Defense for supporting National Guard and Reserve employees.

Here are five key points:

1. One of 15 companies to receive the honor, Cigna was selected among 2,960 nominations from guardsmen and reservists.

2. Cigna's Veterans Colleague Resource Group provides a veteran network with recruiting, retention and fellowship policies.

3. Cigna works to help veterans adjust to work life.

4. Since the Freedom Award was created in 1996, 205 employers have received the honor.

5. David M. Cordani, Cigna president and CEO, received the award at a Pentagon ceremony.

"In accepting this award, Cigna offers its gratitude to those who serve our country, and who grace our workplace with their talent and skills," said Mr. Cordani. "We're honored to offer our unwavering support to military men and women and their families."
