Atlanta Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Center. The Atlanta Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Center includes the da Vinci Surgical System to perform a robotically assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy. The surgery center was founded in 2002 by Nathan Mordel, MD, and grown to include Heather Gibbons-Doig. Other procedures performed at the center include laparoscopic myomectomy, repair of pelvic prolapse and Essure permanent birth control.

Beverly Hills (Calif.) Surgery Center. Beverly Hills Surgery Center, operated by miVIP, became the first ambulatory surgery center in the United States to introduce and perform surgery using the da Vinci Si Surgical System in July 2012. The robotic technology allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive prostatectomy, hysterectomy, myomectomy and colorectal surgery, among other procedures. S. Adam Ramin, MD, a urologic surgeon, was one of the first surgeons to use the new technology at the center. He has performed, proctored and taught more than 1,000 procedures using the technology.

Health East Ambulatory Surgical Center (Englewood, N.J.).
Health East Ambulatory Surgical Center is the first ASC on the East coast to have the da Vinci Si Surgical System. The technology offer guidance for minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy. Surgeons at HEASC are able to perform robotic-assisted cholecytectomy and gall bladder removal surgery. The surgery center is a multidisciplinary facility that also includes equipment for laser procedures, arthroscopy, endoscopic surgery and fiber optics. The ASC has 23-hour stay capabilities and on-site radiological and laboratory services.

Hutchinson (Kan.) Ambulatory Surgery Center.
The Hutchinson Ambulatory Surgery Center is a 13,600-square-foot outpatient facility that includes three operating suites and a da Vinci robotic system. Six of the surgery center's surgeons use the robot for gynecology, urology and general surgery. Additional specialties at the surgery center include orthopedics, pain management, otolaryngology and podiatry. The Hutchinson Clinic was founded in 1959 by five physicians and now includes more than 70 physicians. The surgery center opened in April 2002 and additional services at the clinic include an endoscopy center, pharmacy, physical therapy and radiology.

Lakes Surgery Center (West Bloomfield, Mich.).
Lakes Surgery Center was the first ambulatory surgery center to purchase Mazor Robotics' Renaissance system for robotic-guided spine surgery in 2011. Additional technology at the surgery center includes the Lumenis Selecta Duet Laser for Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty. The surgery center includes orthopedics, general surgery, hand surgery, gastroenterology, urology and ophthalmology, among other procedures. The surgery center has four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. It is accredited by The Joint Commission and affiliated with National Surgical Hospitals.

Midtown Surgery Center (New York City).
Midtown Surgery Center was the first ambulatory surgical facility in New York to fully support the MAKOplasty robotic-guided arm for joint replacement procedures. The facility opened its doors in 2010 and acquired the robot in April 2012. Specialties at the surgery center include general surgery, otolaryngology, pain management and spine surgery in addition to orthopedics. Andrew Rosen, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Empire State Orthopaedics, performed the first case using the robotic technology at the center.

oBand (Tustin, Calif.)
oBand operates five surgery centers and it's Tustin, Calif., location is the first ambulatory surgery center in Orange County, to perform surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System. The first case was a hysterectomy performed by Marsha Granese, MD, and Kathleen Pollock, MD, earlier this year. The company's Beverly Hills surgery center also includes robotic technology. The surgery centers are accredited by The Joint Commission and recognized as American College of Surgeons Level Outpatient Accredited Bariatric Centers. The system can be used during a variety of procedures, including prostatectomy, hysterectomy, myomectomy and colorectal surgery.

San Francisco Surgery Center. San Francisco Surgery Center was the first ambulatory surgery center in the country to purchase the MAKOplasty robotic-guided surgical system for joint procedures. Kevin R. Stone, MD, and John H. Velyvis, MD, performed the first procedure using the technology at the ASC. In the first year, the surgeons performed more than 50 procedures using the technology and had zero transfers. Other specialties at the surgery center include pain management, otolaryngology, podiatry and gynecology.
