Buffalo Surgery Center adding $247k GI procedure room
After three gastroenterologists expressed interest in joining Buffalo (N.Y.) Surgery Center, the center filed an application with the New York Department of Health to add a GI procedure room. If approved, the center would pay $247,316 to renovate one of its exciting procedure rooms into a GI procedure room.
Surgery center nurse who allegedly stole narcotics indicted
Former nurse Danielle Lynn Langham was indicted on 23 drug diversion-related charges June 26. Ms. Langham was accused of taking narcotic medication from a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based surgery center. She allegedly took the drugs for her own personal use and refilled vials with sterile saline to avoid getting caught.
Wolf Eye Clinic building largest ophthalmology ASC in Iowa
Marshalltown, Iowa-based Wolfe Eye Clinic broke ground on a 25,000-square-foot medical facility June 25. The facility will be the largest ophthalmology-dedicated ASC in Iowa. It will house the Wolfe Surgery Center, which is currently located in Wolf Eye Clinic's 38,000-square-foot, $6.5 million West Des Moines, Iowa, location.
Stanford opening outpatient center in Redwood City
Stanford (Calif.) Medicine will open its Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center in Redwood City, Calif., July 9. The center is three stories and 90,000 square feet. The health system built the center to complement services offered at its other outpatient center in Redwood City.
Narcotics stolen from Manalapan Surgery Center
On June 12, Manalapan (N.J.) Surgery Center staff reported an unknown person stole narcotics from the center. Employees told police four oxycodone/acetaminophen 5 mg/325 mg pills were taken from the narcotic cabinet at some point during the day June 11.
Judge denies Southeast Anesthesia Consultants' preliminary injunction
A judge denied Charlotte, N.C.-based Southeast Anesthesia Consultants' request to prevent Charlotte-based Atrium Health from entering into a contract with a new anesthesia provider. SAC was Atrium's anesthesia provider for nearly 40 years, before the health system decided to end its relationship following a rates dispute.
SurgCenter Development performs 30k outpatient joint replacements
Towson, Md.-based SurgCenter Development completed its 30,000th joint replacement since launching the program in 2013. The milestone procedure was also the development company's 10,000th joint replacement procedure in a 12-month span.
