Westbury, N.Y.-based Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island is expanding its footprint by partnering with Huntington (N.Y.) Eye Care. The partnership will add Paul Krawitz, MD, and Christopher Lutz, OD, to OCLI's staff.

KKR seeking new investors through corporation move
New York City-based KKR made the move to become a corporation July 1, hoping to reach out to a new pool of investors. As a result, KKR will pay more taxes, but will be able to sell to new investors.
Outpatient clinics reduce ED visits after spine surgery
A study published in Spine examined Tricare claims data to assess emergency department utilization rates for spine surgery interventions. Study authors found around 15 percent of the patients who underwent spine surgery used the ED within 30 days of surgery; by 90 days after surgery, 29 percent of patients had presented in the ED. Glens Falls Hospital opening office space for 3 specialty practices
Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital is planning to move three of its specialty practices into an office building also in Glens Falls. The space will house the hospital's Center for Lung and Chest Surgery, Adirondack Urology and Orthopedic Specialists of Glen Falls.
