Multiple providers contest HCA's plan to move Tennessee surgery center.
Hospital Corporation of America's TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., plans to move its surgery center to a new location, but the project will not move forward unopposed. The opposing providers include Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.; Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn.; St. Thomas Campus Surgicare in Nashville and Baptist Ambulatory Surgery Center in Nashville. The project will be up for certificate of need review this month.
AAAHC launches Network Accreditation Program.
The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care launched a new accreditation program for healthcare organizations with multiple sites. The AAAHC Network Accreditation is a comprehensive evaluation focusing on the corporate organization's overall capability to maintain the site of care at nationally recognized standards. The program grants Network Accreditation to the corporate organization as a whole in addition to each individual site of care included in the accreditation survey. The certificate each site receives identifies its affiliation with the nationally accredited and qualified organization.
AmSurg leadership gets significant raises.
AmSurg's executive team received significant raises and increased potential for bonuses. President and CEO Christopher Holden received a 30 percent raise, bumping his salary up from $766,000 to the $1 million mark. CFO Claire Gulmi received a 9 percent raise to $500,000, while president of ambulatory services Philip Clendenin received a 17 percent raise to $425,000. Chief accounting officer Kevin Eastridge's 19 percent raise brought his salary to $370,000. These executives could earn up to $904,000 in bonuses.
UnitedHealthcare to add up to 250 ACOs this year.
UnitedHealthcare announced plans to add up to 250 new accountable care programs to its current list of more than 520 active programs. The payer now covers more than 11 million beneficiaries with value-based care. Read the full report on Becker's Hospital Review.
Joint Commission names EVP of Healthcare Quality Evaluation Division.
The Joint Commission appointed David W. Baker, MD, the executive vice president for the Division of Healthcare Quality Evaluation. Dr. Baker will oversee the Departments of Quality, Health Services Research and Standards and Survey Methods.
ASC influenza vaccination reporting deadline approaching.
The National Healthcare Safety Network deadline for ambulatory surgery centers to report healthcare personnel influenza vaccination summary data is nearing. Despite the deadline being May 15, around 64 percent of ASCs required are not yet enrolled. Registration can take more than a month.
Patient Safety Awareness Week to be in March.
Patient Safety Awareness Week if March 8 to March 15 this year. The National Patient Safety Foundation is urging healthcare providers unite and participate. The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation are sponsoring this year's campaign. This year's campaign includes the resource "Roadmap for Patient + Family Engagement in Healthcare."
