Henry Ford Health System plans new outpatient medical center in Royal Oak

Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System will move into a new 145,000-square-foot outpatient medical center in Royal Oak, Mich.

Here's what you should know:

1. Henry Ford will occupy the six-story Royal Oak City Center when construction wraps up in mid-2020.

2. All employees who work at the Detroit facility will move to the new medical center upon its completion. Additionally, about 12 employees will relocate to the new facility from an existing Henry Ford location, which is also in Royal Oak. Henry Ford is developing plans for the current site.

3. The facility will employ more than 200 employees, including physicians, nurses and support staff. The center's physicians will offer women's health, pediatrics, sports medicine, rehabilitation, radiology, primary care and outpatient surgery services.

4. The center will feature a walk-in clinic, retail eye care services and a retail pharmacy.

5. Henry Ford operates more than 30 outpatient medical facilities in the area.

6. The medical center is part of Royal Oak's $110-million development project, which will include a new city hall, police station, parking structure and city park.
