Columbus-based Ohio State University officials approved the purchase of land for a large outpatient care center in Dublin, Ohio, The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Seven insights:
1. The Dublin facility is one of three outpatient centers OSU has announced since April. The others are located in Powell, Ohio, and the Northeast Side of Columbus.
2. The facilities will be approximately 200,000 square feet each and include outpatient surgery centers.
3. The land acquisition and initial design work for the three centers cost more than $31 million. The cost of construction hasn't yet been determined.
4. The Dublin center will be located across from Columbus-based OhioHealth's Dublin Methodist Hospital.
5. The Northeast Side center is expected to be complete by mid-2021. Its signage "will be as big as the law allows," according to OSU board of trustees committee member Bob Schottenstein.
6. The Powell outpatient center is the city's largest economic development project. It's expected to create 500 jobs with an annual payroll of $50 million.
7. Next, OSU is looking to expand in communities southeast and southwest of Columbus.
