New legislation would remove ASCs from CON regulation in North Carolina

New legislation introduced in North Carolina would deregulate the opening of ambulatory surgery centers in the state, according to a Triangle Business Journal report.

House Bill 200 aims to remove ASCs from certificate of need regulation. The bill is sponsored b Representative Marilyn Avila (R) and has already been brought before three House committees.

The bill has been in the works for three years and aims to push for significant CON reform, according to the report.
