Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health System has acquired another local specialty physician practice, expanding its footprint and services, according to a June 6 report from the Washington Business Journal.
It is taking over the 40-year-old Annandale, Va.-based Northern Virginia Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates, which it will rename to Inova Pulmonology. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Inova will take over Northern Virginia's two practice locations, including the Annandale facility and a medical office building in Fairfax.
The partnership includes plans for further expansion in Northern Virginia, according to the report.
Inova Pulmonology will focus on pulmonary diseases including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, chronic cough, pulmonary infections, sleep disorders and interstitial lung diseases.
The deal is just another step in Inova's acquisition strategy, which includes last year's acquisition of Mednax Pediatric Cardiology Associates, which it converted to Inova Children's Cardiology, an outpatient facility.
The year prior, it took over Fairfax's Virginia Surgery Associates. Inova is expanding its heart and vascular programs thanks to a $75 million donation from two long-time philanthropists.
Inova currently has 20,000 employees, 2 million yearly patient visits and 1,936 licensed beds.
