G.L. Bruno Associates is moving forward with plans to develop a $150 million medical plaza in Bakersfield, Calif., which would include a 34,000-square-foot outpatient surgery center, according to a report by The Bakersfield Californian.
The medical campus project was originally proposed by a group of physicians in 2005.
The Rio Bravo Medical Campus group has invested $10 million in the project, which will include four buildings at a total of 178,264 square feet. The project leaders are currently waiting on the county for several lease approvals, including an approval for the surgery center.
The surgery center's annual operating costs are estimated at $1.4 million. If approved, the surgery center is expected to reach construction completion within a year.
