Compass Surgical Partners, independent physicians forms Legacy Surgery Center & more — 8 ASC industry notes

Here are eight updates on ASC companies and industry-relevant companies to note:

Raleigh, N.C.-based Compass Surgical Partners formed Tampa, Fla.-based Legacy Surgery Center in partnership with a group of independent physicians.

Albany, N.Y.-based providers Albany Medical Center and Capital Region North, as well as Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Saratoga Hospital are teaming up to build an outpatient surgery center primarily devoted to joint surgeries.

HFAP's joint replacement certification for ASCs was approved for inclusion in Blue Cross Blue Shield's national quality designation program. Read more.

Despite guidelines to begin colorectal cancer screening at 45 years, newly released data said Americans put off their initial screening until 58 years. Nashville, Tenn.-based AmSurg released data from 1 million patient encounters over the past five years in recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Read more.

West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health Partners added physicians from Newtown Square, Pa.-based Premier Orthopaedics to its network. With the addition of Premier Orthopaedics, the Tower Health Partners network now includes 1,379 physicians in 52 specialties.

The long-vacant Hamden (Conn.) Surgery Center underwent $10 million in renovations to become Northeast Alliance Surgery Center.

After Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tennova Healthcare notified patients its contract with UnitedHealthcare expired Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic is reassuring patients and referring physicians that its facilities remain in-network.

Boardman, Ohio-based Orthopaedic Surgery Center is building a $7 million center.
