Baton Rouge General Hospital renovating, expanding former Ochsner campus — 3 insights

Baton Rouge (La.) General Hospital is spending $12 million to renovate and expand a 140,000-square-foot building on its Baton Rouge-based Bluebonnet Boulevard campus, Greater Baton Rouge Business Report reports.

What you should know:

1. The Baton Rouge General Center for Health will feature a six-suite outpatient surgery center. It will house physician offices, clinical space, outpatient rehabilitation services and a graduate medical education program.

2. The building will be 152,000 square feet.

3. BRG President and CEO Edgardo Tenreiro said, "Our goal is to have a variety of physicians, clinics and outpatient surgery suites in one location, to make it easy for patients to access outpatient care. More of medicine is done on an outpatient basis today so that is why you’ll see us expanding in that area."
