ASC acquisitions are up — 3 key report statistics

The Healthcare Appraisers’ 2019 ASC valuation survey provides insight on payers, ASC value and more.

Healthcare Appraisers partnered with the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association to compile the report based on responses from 26 companies, including ASC management companies, investment bankers and business brokers.

Three statistics:

1. Fifty-seven percent of survey respondents said ASC acquisition activity increased in the last year. Twenty-three percent said there was no change, and 20 percent said it was decreasing.

2. Forty percent of survey respondents said they purchased one to five ASCs or ASC interests in the last year. Thirty percent said they didn’t purchase any; 16 percent said they purchased six to 16; and 7 percent said they purchased 11 to 15 and 16 to 20.

3. Fifty-three percent said they plan to purchase one to five ASCs or ASC interests in the next year. Thirteen percent said they don’t plan to purchase any, while 14 percent said they planned to purchase six to 10, and 10 percent said they planned to purchase 11 to 15 and 16 to 20.
