Mobile App Users 3X More Likely to Look up Medical Information

People who regularly use certain applications on a mobile device are three times more likely to go online at least once a day for medical information than other Internet users, according to a Health Tech report.

The study by Kantar Media made the following findings on users of an e-book reader or an e-reader who were regularly looking up medical information:

  • One in four were older than age 50.
  • 71 percent went online to learn more about a condition.
  • 65 percent had been diagnosed with a health condition in the past year.
  • One in three initiated discussions with their physician about their condition or a specific treatment.

Almost 28 million Americans use e-books or e-reader apps downloaded from a mobile device.
