Medical device companies and industry groups spent $31.56 million lobbying Congress in Washington, D.C., during the third quarter, according to a MassDevice report.
The spending was up $4 million from the second quarter and $12 million from the first quarter. Among the biggest spenders were the American Medical Association with more than $7 million spent, General Electric and its subsidiaries, which include GE Healthcare, with $5.7 million spent and the Biotechnology Industry Organization with $2 million spent.
The top five spenders are as follows:
American Medical Association: $7,240,000
General Electric: $5,650,000
Biotechnology Industry Organization: $1,980,000
Novartis: $1,631,812
Medtronic: $1,298,162
