Two Democratic members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee have asked the Government Accountability Office to investigate the safety and security of wireless medical devices, according to a MedCity report.
The request responds to a recent report on a computer security expert who hacked his own insulin pump, altering it to respond to remote commands.
Medtronic, which makes many of these devices, said the threat is only theoretical, noting no reports of malicious attacks on device software.
