Significantly more healthcare providers, GPOs, device manufacturers and wholesalers are moving toward adoption of a global data standards system in the next five years than in 2008, according to a recent survey by the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association's Committee on eHealth Standards.
Sixty-eight percent of the survey's respondents said they were moving toward adoption of a global data standards system in the next five years, and 90 percent of those moving toward such a system reported moving toward GS1 standards.
Of those moving toward adoption of GS1, 76 percent plan to implement global location numbers and 51 percent plan to implement GLNs by the end of 2010.
