FDA Finds Problems in Johnson & Johnson Contract Drug Factory

The FDA found serious problems at Ben Venue Laboratories' plant in Bedford, Ohio, according to a Businessweek report.

Ben Venue is a contract manufacturer for Johnson & Johnson's cancer drug Doxil. The FDA found the plant hadn't been properly maintaining equipment or promptly investigating defective products. The plant was forced to stop production of the drug, which has been in short supply since the summer, last month. The drug is currently being rationed to 2,000 patients.
